Ipod OS 4.0 and battery life

I meant to post this a while back. My Ipod Touch OS recently upgraded to v.4.0. Shortly afterwards I noticed the battery life was reduced dramatically. I thought maybe it was time to get a new battery. The price of a new battery threw me off, so I started looking for articles on Ipod battery life, and found an article on the new 4.0 OS and batteries. It seems this OS allows the wi-fi to stay active even when the Ipod is in sleep mode. This can cause the battery to drain in as little as 12 hours. I started turning off the wi-fi when I didn’t need it, and battery performance went back to the way it was before the upgrade. I hope they fix this in the next upgrade, as it is an irritation to have to turn the wi-fi off and on.
